OVERVIEW OF DR SHETTY’S BACKGROUND & VISION
EBavaguthu Raghuram Shetty (born 1 August 1942) is an Indian-born billionaire businessman, and the founder of a number of companies based in the United Arab Emirates. He is founder and chairman of Abu Dhabi-based NMC Healthcare, and chairman of UAE Exchange.
He is also the founder and chairman of Neopharma, Finablr and BRS Ventures. In 2018, the UAE Exchange brand became part of the fnancial services holding company, Finablr.
Shetty’s initial interest in 1975 was in hospitals and hospitality, and has since diversifed into pharmaceuticals, fnancial services, retail, advertising and information technology. Shetty was included on the Forbes list of India’s 100 Richest People in 2015 and was listed the 42nd richest person in 2020.
